One of the advantages of the Wear OS platform over other proprietary platforms is the huge availability of apps. The Wear OS platform boasts of popular apps like Google Assistant, YouTube Music, Spotify and now, there is an official WhatsApp app for Wear OS watches. The new app which supports smartwatches running on Wear OS 3.0 and above will allow you to download WhatsApp and effortlessly manage WhatsApp messages on your Galaxy Watch 5 and other Wear OS watches.

It was earlier reported that a beta version of the WhatsApp app is now available for download for beta testers. To download the app you need to be a better tester, simply join to become a better tester and download the app to your watch. Note that the WhatsApp installed on your phone must be updated to version 2.23.10.10, otherwise it won’t work.

Once you have downloaded the app, you will need to link your watch to your phone before you can use the app on your watch. You will need to enter a 10 digit code on your phone to connect both devices.

When successfully connected, the Watch will sync all chats on your phone and you will be able to see chat history for each of the chats. The WhatsApp app will allow you to receive and reply to messages directly on your watch. You will also be able to receive and listen to voice notes as well as send voice messages. However, for now, there is no option to start a chat. Hopefully the option to start a chat will be added when the app is released to the general public. The ability to start a chat is a major feature that will make the app a complete package.

With WhatsApp app now available on Wear OS, smartwatches running on Wear OS 3.0 and above will be able to download the app and easily manage WhatsApp messages.
