Samsung Gear S2 classic seems like Samsung’s answer to the Gear S2 series fans who wanted a classic smartwatch rather than just a sport watch which would fit in for official outings.
The Gear S2 classic has a 1.2-inch display size which is the same with other models of the Gear S2 series, it features a super AMOLED 16M colors which gives a rich display to the device.
Another great feature of the Gear S2 classic is the weight. It weighs only 42 grams which will feel very light on your wrist.
Its casing is built with stainless steel material, the strap comes in a leather material, while the bezel is made of ceramics. In essence, the Gear S2 Classic is built for durability.
The battery on the Gear S2 classic might not be what you would want from a smartwatch, it is a li-ion battery with a capacity of 250mAh, same as the Gear S2. On standby it can stay up for about 48 hours+ while on mixed average usage it stays up for about 24 hours+ meaning you will need to charge the device almost every day.
The device comes with an internal storage of 4GB which is great, you can store over 200-300 of your favorite tracks. You will need to transfer these tracks to your watch internal storage then blast it via a Bluetooth headphone. So you can take your favorite tracks with you anywhere you go, working out or in the office.
Gear S2 classic is water and dust resistant, it passes the 1.5meters underwater for 30 minutes test and as such it is IP68 certified. You can wear the Gear S2 Classic under the rain, in the shower without having to worry about water destroying it, but it doesn’t mean you should subject it to high pressure such as diving with it from very high heights.
The Samsung Gear S2 classic comes with S Health and Nike+ preinstalled. These applications can track various fitness activities such as running, steps, heart rate monitoring and other activities that can help you live a healthier life.
Gear S2classic when connected to a compatible smartphone will notify when there is a new notification on your phone. This includes;
The Gear S2 Classic works with Samsung Gear manager as it’s companion app and as expected, it means that some of your favorite apps might not be added, although Samsung had announced the gear manager has quiet a huge list of app to choose from and that its being updated, but it will be certainly limited. The Android wear app from Google would have done better.
Another great thing ,is the rotating bezel which allows you to access your notifications easily on the tiny screen.
