Montblanc Summit 2 vs 2 Plus Features Compared

  1. Design

  2. Each of these two looks astonishing, it’s no surprise for a luxury smartwatch to have a sophisticated build just as you’ll agree going by the design and appearance of both the Summit 2+ and Summit 2. Same durable materials have been used for the body; sapphire glass crystal for the screen, glass & fibreglass resin for the back, leather straps, while the main case is available in stainless steel, rose-gold, titanium and DLC materials. The titanium and DLC models will cost you more.

The Summit 2+ housing standalone features and loudspeaker has a bigger case of 43.5mm compared to 42mm of the Summit 2. It’s also heavier at 90g compared to 63g, while thickness size remains the same at 14.3mm which is quite thick. The 1.3-inch display of the Summit 2+ is slightly wider than the 1.2 inches of its predecessor, this allows you to see more at a glance. Although, AMOLED still powers the display of these two.

  3. Cellular Connectivity
  4. The main addition to the Summit 2+ that distinguishes it from the Summit 2 is the presence of e-SIM that enables cellular connectivity up to 4G which makes it a standalone smartwatch. This makes the Summit 2+ a more comprehensive smartwatch, and it’s even better with Google adding the ability to setup e-SIM directly from the Wear OS app. The standalone feature of the Summit 2+ is available in USA, Germany, UK, France and more. The standalone feature of the Summit 2+ also warranted it has a loudspeaker which the Summit 2 lacks.

  5. Waterproof Rating
  6. The Summit 2+ rated IP68 which means waterproof up to 1.5meters compared to the Summit 2 rated 5ATM which means waterproof up to 50meters. This makes the Summit 2 a more suitable smartwatch for deepwater activities such as swimming in the pool or ocean which I won’t recommend with the Summit 2+

  7. Activity Tracking
  8. There’s no much difference in the activity tracking features of these two as both are equipped with the same sensors; heart rate sensor, altimeter, accelerometer and gyroscope which enables heart rate tracking, outdoor activity tracking such as locations, routes, and distance, steps and floors climbed. Google Fit is your fitness companion on both devices and can help you manage your fitness goals efficiently.

  9. Battery Life

The battery life is likely to be about the same, although both have been tested to last about a day. Thanks to the 3100 chip which enables battery saver feature that will see any of these two go over a day with essential mode activated.

Verdict

Clearly, the Summit 2+ is a better smartwatch than Summit 2. It has a standalone feature which makes it a more comprehensive smartwatch. Although, it’ll cost you more money at about $1200 compared to $1000 which makes the Summit 2 a very nice alternative especially if the standalone features mean less to you.
