Lenovo Watch 9 vs Watch X Plus Features Compared
- Water Resistance
The major difference between the Watch X Plus and Watch 9 is that the Watch X Plus has an OLED display while watch 9 has an analog LED display, plus watch X Plus has more hardware components than Watch 9.
Lenovo Watch X Plus uses OLED display which is brighter at night while Watch 9 has an analog display which doesn’t allow you see the interface in the dark. Though, the mechanical hands are luminous, but you will only barely see what is on the screen.
The watch 9 has 3 mechanical hands (minute, seconds and hour) while Watch X Plus has just 2 mechanical hands (minutes and hour). However, the Watch X plus has a Roman numeral calibration on the screen just next to the bezel. This gives the Watch X Plus a better and outstanding design.
The watch X plus is thicker than watch 9 by 1mm and also heavier by 28 grams. The watch 9 case is actually made of same 316L grade stainless steel as with Watch x plus, but is painted black. So you might think it’s a different material.
While Watch X Plus comes with braided Milanese straps out of the box, Watch 9 has silicone straps. Both can be changed, that’s if you dislike the straps that comes with the device.
Both of these smartwatches are great idea for tracking swimming activities that’s if you intend do just that. However, the Watch X Plus is rated 8ATM which means it is water resistant up to 80 meters which massive compared to Watch 9 which is rated 5ATM. It is safe to wear any of these to the pool or ocean.
Lenovo watch X Plus has a massive battery capacity of 600mAh which lasts up to 20 days or more on standby and far less than that on mixed usage, around 1 day+. However, Watch 9 doesn’t use a rechargeable battery rather it uses a replaceable battery which the manufacturer states will last a standard 240 days before a need to change it arises.
Lenovo watch X Plus has more hardware built-in compared to watch 9. It has an optical heart rate sensor, a barometer and a thermometer. All three hardware components are missing on watch 9. This makes the Watch X Plus a far better choice for a comprehensive fitness tracking. The watch 9 can actually measure heart rate, but it does this differently from the Lenovo watch app by using a flash and the phone camera. This however leaves lots of doubt as to its accuracy compared to Watch X Plus which monitors heart rate through blood pulse which is no doubt more accurate.
In addition, watch X Plus is great choice for avid climbers and hikers. With the inbuilt barometer, it measures changes in atmospheric pressure. Another addition, also lacking in the watch 9 is a thermometer that automatically measures changes in body temperature. This is a very nice feature lacking in many high-end smartwatches that allows you to monitor closely body temperature changes.
Which is Better
These two watches are hybrid smartwatches with nice specs that will serve just fine. However, obviously, the Watch x plus is a better choice. It actually cost more about $60, but it will give you a better experience. It has a better design, with OLED display that lets view the screen even in the dark. It will be annoying to know that you wearing a smartwatch but can’t view the display clearly in the dark.
On another note, the Watch x Plus which has a real optical heart rate sensor is a far better choice to track heart rate more accurately compared to watch where you have to go through the app that involves protocols that you might find stressful. Modern day smartwatches have optical heart rate sensor which is better and more accurate. The additional hardware components, a barometer and thermometer makes the Watch X Plus a far better choice for comprehensive fitness tracking than the Watch 9.
In summary, Watch X Plus is a better choice, even though you will have to spend more. It has a better design and more features.
