The Differences
The difference between GS Pro and Magic 2 is that the former is certified MIL-STD-810G which makes it a rugged and more durable smartwatch than its predecessor. It also features more activity tracking features such as skiing, route back navigation, and has more sports modes, as well a longer battery life than its predecessor.
- Design: GS PRO is More Durable
- Media
- Activity Tracking: GS Pro Has More Features
- Battery Life: GS Pro Has a Longer Battery Life
Although both smartwatches sport a durable build that consists of a stainless steel case and ceramics bezel with straps available in silicone and leather, GS Pro has a more durable build. It’s certified MIL-STD-810G – a US military grade rating that ensures it can withstand harsh weather conditions. This makes it a better outdoor smartwatch than its predecessor.
In terms of dimension, the GS pro dimensions differ a little from Magic 2, it’s slightly bigger and heavier, but it’ll be safe to group both smartwatches as lightweight. While Magic 2 came in two sizes; 46mm and 42mm, the GS Pro is only available in 48mm size. So, this isn’t the smartwatch for anyone with a thin wrist as it’s quite bulky. It’s not a smartwatch for women, but rather a smartwatch for men.
The display of GS Pro is powered by AMOLED and measures 1.39 inches just like Magic 2. Both smartwatches are rated 5ATM which means waterproof rating up to 50 meters. As such it’s safe to wear any of these two while swimming.
There are lots of watch faces to choose from in the companion Huawei Health app.
Just like Magic 2 which has both a microphone and loudspeaker that allows you to make and receive calls from the watch via a Bluetooth connection, the GS Pro also has both a microphone and loudspeaker that allows you to make and receive calls from the watch.
Both smartwatches also come with 4GB storage capacity out of which about half is available for storing your media files on the watch.
Just like its predecessor, GS Pro is also fitness-focused like its predecessor. Both smartwatches have the ability to count your calories, steps, distance, and feature stress management via TruRelax app, menstrual cycle logging, heart rate, sleep, and blood oxygen tracking.
However, GS Pro has more activity-tracking features, it has 100 sport modes compared to 15 of Magic 2. And it also features “back to start navigation” – a feature that comes in handy in helping you find your way back home. For Skiing enthusiasts, GS Pro also features a skiing workout coach that tracks your heart rate, average speed, biggest slope, and more during a skiing activity.
GS Pro can also help you plan your day ahead and stay plugged into your surroundings with useful outdoor information which includes sunrise and sunset times, moonrise and moonset times, tidal phases, and bad weather alerts.
Another difference between the GS Pro and its predecessor is its longer battery life. The GS Pro is tested to last up to 25 days in a typical usage scenario which is longer than what you can get from Magic 2 which can last up to 14 days.
Which is Better?
Honor Watch GS Pro is a better smartwatch than Honor Watch Magic 2. It has a more durable and rugged build and is well equipped with more activity tracking features with a longer battery life which makes it a more comprehensive smartwatch than its predecessor.
Nevertheless, Honor Magic 2 is still a fantastic smartwatch.
