What’s the Difference?

Garmin Venu vs Fitbit Versa 2 vs Apple watch series 5
  1. Design

  2. Mere looking at these three smartwatches, you’ll agree with me that each of these has got an outstanding design that’s both stylish and elegant. I’ll like to also add that there has been significant improvement in the design of smartwatches over the last two years. Each of these three is sleek and very attractive wear that should make a great companion for any outing.

However, the Apple Watch 5 is no doubt a more beautiful and charming device. Its slimmer and very lightweight while featuring a more premium sapphire crystal glass compared to the Versa 2 and Venu with Corning Gorilla glass.

Despite having a compact case size, the Apple Watch 5 with 1.78 inches display area allows you to see more at a glance compared to the Versa 2 with 1.4 inches and Venu with 1.2 inches display. The Apple Watch 5 like its predecessor also features the infographic watch face that makes it easier to see more complications than you’ll on Versa 2 or Venu.

In other words, while each of these three has got an outstanding design, the Apple Watch 5 has a more sophisticated design that leaves it with a more attractive and charming appearance.

  3. Media/Storage

  4. Each of these three has got significant onboard storage capacity that lets you take your music with you. However, the Apple watch 5 with 32GB storage allows you to take more music with you which is about 8-times more that of the Versa 2 or Venu with about 4GB.

Moreover, Versa 2 has a microphone that supports Amazon Alexa the same as the Siri on Apple watch 5. This voice assistant comes handy in carrying out tasks like setting up reminders and controlling smart home devices which the Venu lacks.

  5. Cellular Connectivity

  6. There’s also a cellular edition of the Apple watch 5 which allows you to initiate and receive calls directly from this device. Thus, makes it a standalone smartwatch and a more comprehensive device than the Venu and Versa 2 that lack this feature.

Although, you can reply to text messages with the Versa 2 and Venu, but only supported on Android devices.

  7. Fitness Tracking

  8. Like I’d stated earlier, activity tracking and overall health monitoring have received the most attention with the latest smartwatches. And no doubt, each these three is fitness-focused and well equipped to track your active life.

On a general note, each of these three will track your steps, distance, calories, heart rate, sleep, and stress. Also notable and common among these three is the menstrual cycle tracking that lets you log your period which can help you monitor changes.

The Versa 2 comes preloaded with 15 workout modes, while also featuring onscreen workout that can coach you through your favorite moves (subscription-based). It features SmartTrack which auto tracks selected workout modes, as well as personalized reminders that remind you to stay active or get a rest. Pulse ox sensor is also available in the Versa 2 which tracks your blood oxygen level and can help you get better insightful sleep monitoring data.

Versa 2, however, lacks inbuilt GPS which is present on the Venu and Apple watch 5 which makes these two better choices for outdoor activity tracking.

While the Venu features 20 preloaded workout modes with hydration tracking that can help you stay hydrated, as well as pulse ox sensor which is also available to track how well your body absorbs oxygen. It also features the body battery energy monitor that gauges how fit you’re for the next training, including incident detection feature that comes handy in helping you get required help when a fall has occurred. The Venu also has inbuilt GPS that Versa 2 lacks which makes it a better choice for outdoor activity tracking that lets you see your pace in real-time.

The Venu also features an animated workout that guides you through your favorite moves.

The Apple Watch 5 feature ECG tracking, it lets you take instant ECG test simply by placing your finger on the digital crown and can help you detect atrial fibrillation – a form of irregular heart rhythm. Also available is incidental fall detection just like the Venu, as well as very use full apps for diabetic patients and for those of us that are very curious about the food we eat, and even more apps. Apple Watch 5 uses the activity ring to remind you to move, sit, or exercise.

  9. Battery Life

The Venu and Versa 2 both have a very impressive battery life that keeps you going for days which is longer than the Apple watch 5’s 18hrs battery life. Perhaps the price to pay for the 1.78 inches display. The Apple watch 5 has the least battery life that last just about a day, while the Venu or Versa 2 will last just about 5 days which is quite impressive. Thus, makes these two great choices for fitness enthusiasts involved in extreme workout activities.

Garmin Venu Smartwatch mode: Up to 5 days
GPS mode with music: Up to 6 hours
Fitbit Versa 2 Standby :10 days+
Mixed usage: 5 days+
Apple Watch 5 Standby :3 days +
Mixed usage: 18hrs+

Which Should You Buy?

Obviously, these three are outstanding smartwatches. Each of these has got a decent appearance with features that defines a comprehensive smartwatch. However, the Apple watch 5 has the most distinguishing design, and is also a more comprehensive smartwatch with cellular support and in-depth activity tracking features. It’s the best choice for iPhone owners as it’s not compatible with android devices.

The Versa 2 being quite cheaper than the Venu is a better smartwatch for indoor activity tracking, it’s a comprehensive fitness tracker and has a long battery life just like the Venu, but has a microphone that supports Amazon Alexa voice assistant which comes handy in setting up reminders, alarms and controlling smart home devices.

While the Venu with inbuilt GPS is a better choice for outdoor activity tracking, even while having a long battery life and loaded with fitness tracking features that makes this watch a comprehensive fitness tracker.
