The design of the Forerunner is quiet great featuring an appearance that makes it suitable as a classic and sporty wear. It weighs 49 grams which is great, you will barely notice you putting it on. The screen size is still the same 1.2 inches like so many Garmin smartwatches. It features a full-color Garmin chrome display which is powered by LED backlighting which makes readability possible under all ambient conditions and a transflective technology that makes the screen visible under bright sunlight.
The body of the Garmin forerunner is built for durability. The casing is a fiber-reinforced polymer as well as the bezel material. The strap is a silicon material whereas the screen is protected with a chemically strengthened glass.
The Garmin forerunner 935 is not touchscreen device, you will have to rely on the 5 physical buttons by the sides which makes navigating the 1.2-inch screen easy.
The Garmin forerunner boosts of a good battery life which allows you to go longer on a single charge. As an athlete with rigorous goal-focused fitness activities, you will find this very helpful. On smartwatch mode, the battery will last about 12 days+, with the GPS on expect about a day battery life.
The battery is a Li-ion battery and can be charged with a USB charging cable that comes with the device. It’s recommended that you use only Garmin charges to charge the Forerunner 935.
The Garmin forerunner is 5ATM certified and as such can be worn under the rain, to the shower and off course if you like to track your swimming activities, that won’t be a problem either as you can wear the Forerunner to the pool or ocean .
The Forerunner is focused on fitness tracking, it comes loaded with lots of really sensitive sensors which lets you track your fitness activities. For a start, it tacks all the basic activities such as steps count, sleep quality, heart rate monitoring, hiking, cycling and a host of other activities.
There is a built-in activity profile ranging from triathlon, treadmill, bike, pool, and swimming. The number of different events the Forerunner can track goes beyond just triathlon sports. There is built-in support for a long list of sports such as hiking, skiing, golfing and a host of other fitness activities.
You can add power data to your training by downloading the running power app from the Connect IQ store onto your compatible watch. Built by Garmin Labs, the Running Power app taps into metrics such as pace, vertical oscillation, grade and even local wind conditions to determine the amount of power you’re applying at the ground as you run.
With the inbuilt GPS /GLONASS you can track distances you covered, routes, locations even in difficult environments where the GPS lags.
The Forerunner 935 is also a great companion when it comes to is keeping you updated with latest notifications from your smartphone such as;
- It alerts you when there is an incoming call or missed calls.
- Stay updated with the event reminder features.
- It is capable of updating you with weather forecast data.
- It notifies you when you have a new text message alert.
