    Fossil Gen 4 Explorist is slightly smaller than its predecessor. The Gen 4 has a smaller case size of 45mm while Gen 3 has a bigger case size of 46mm. However, the Gen 3 with a thickness size of 12.5mm is less thick and slimmer than the Gen 4 which has a thickness of 13mm. Perhaps this is because of the Gen 4 houses GPS, HRM and NFC inside. Overall, it is still sleek.

  • The Gen 4 explorist has some hardware components which are lacking in Gen 3. It has GPS, HRM, and NFC built-in, these components can’t be found in the Gen 3. This means you will have to connect to your phone GPS to track outdoor events which are not a great idea in certain situations.
