Fossil Gen 3 explorist comes with a great design which makes it very attractive, classy and elegant. The body is built for durability, the case is a stainless steel material, whereas the straps which are interchangeable with a 22mm strap size is made of silicone material. The watch faces can be customized to your choice.
The display is great and it features a brightly full-color AMOLED display with a high resolution that makes the screen readable under all ambient conditions. It is touchscreen and features 3 physical buttons by the right side which allows for easy navigation of the 1.4 inch screen size.
The battery life of Gen 3 Q Explorist is not so great, perhaps due to the fact that it comes with Qualcomm snapdragon wear 2100 processor which is considered outdated and drains the battery. The battery is Li-ion, on standby you should expect a battery life of about 1-2days while on mixed average usage it’s estimated to last almost a day. However, battery life totally depends on usage.
The Gen 3 Q Explorist battery can be charged simple by plugging the USB end to a low-power source, then place the smartwatch on the inductive charging magnet. It takes about 2-3 hours for the battery to be fully charged. To avoid damage to the device, it is recommended that you use only inductive chargers. Also do not use a USB hub, USB splitter, USB y-cable, battery pack or other peripheral devices to charge .
The Gen 3 Q Explorist is fun-packed. It comes with 4GB internal storage space that lets you store your favorite tracks and other files which you can listen to via a Bluetooth enabled earbud on the go while working out, in the office or just recreating or simply play via the loudspeaker that comes with the watch.
The Gen 3 Q Explorist is IP67 certified and as such is water and dust resistant, but below our expectation. It’s not recommended to wear it to the shower, ocean or to water depths below 0.5-1meters.
The Fossil Gen 3 Q Explorist is not the perfect choice for fitness-minded people. It only comes with the basic accelerometer sensor which only tracks steps and other simple activities from the Google Fit app. There is no GPS for tracking outdoor functionality. There is no heart rate monitor for tracking heart rate variations.
The Gen 3 Q Explorist comes with a Bluetooth smart v4.1 LE which when paired with compatible smartphone syncs effortlessly to enable notifications alert as they arrive. Notifications include;
The Gen 3 Q Explorist though comes with a rose-gold stainless strap, the straps are interchangeable with a 22mm strap of your choice. Beside this, the watch faces can also be customized to your choice.
The Gen 3 Q Explorist is compatible with android 4.4 (excluding Go edition) or later and iOS 9.3 or later.
The Gen 3 Explorist doesn’t have an NFC chip which would have supported Google pay a contactless payment system which lets you make payments on the go with a simple swap .
The Gen 3 Q Explorist has a loudspeaker and a microphone which lets you use the voice command feature for text and otherwise via Google assistant.
