  • Design

  • The design of each of these three looks decent enough in their respective ways. For one, each of these is lightweight and sleek which makes a nice wear for a sports event. But while the Versa Lite and Charge 4 can be called smartwatches, the Inspire HR is a smartband. As per display, the Versa lite with colored OLED is more interactive and brighter than the grayscale OLED display of the Inspire HR which can be hard to read outdoors or indoors and to make matter worse, it lacks ambient light sensor. On the other hand, the Charge 4 display powered by monochrome OLED is bright and easy to read outdoors, although less interactive when compared with the Versa Lite colored OLED.

Corning Gorilla Glass mounts the screen on all three and straps come in polyester, fluoroelastomer, while Charge 4 is also available in a special edition that comes with woven straps.

Based on the design, each of these three is lightweight and overall decent designs.

  • Activity Tracking

  • Each of these three features the very best of Fitbit fitness tracking technology which enables any of these to track your complete sleep cycle, continuous heart rate monitoring, floors climbed, fitness level, automatic recognition of workout mode, menstrual cycle tracking, blood oxygen, swimming and more.

    – Tracks your heart rate continuously including resting heart rate and heart rate zones which gives you a clear picture of your intensity during training.
    – Tracks calories all day.
    – Tracks your complete sleep cycle which includes REM, deep and light, and time spent in each.
    – Tracks floors climbed.
    – Automatic exercise recognition with over 15+ preloaded workout modes to choose from.
    – For women, log menstrual cycle and monitor changes.
    – Tracks your blood oxygen saturation via the SpO2 sensor.
    – Sedentary reminders that monitors how active you’ve been and reminds you to move.
    – Tracks your swimming activities including SWOLF.
    – (new) Active Zone Minutes allows you to set a target heart rate in which the device will alert you when your heart rate reaches a preset goal.
    – Tracks your VO2 Max and overall fitness level.
    – Guided breathing sessions can help you resolve stress.

    1. The difference in fitness features is that Charge 4 comes with an inbuilt GPS that enables location, routes, real-pace and distance tracking without carrying your phone along, unlike the Inspire HR and Versa Lite which require connection to phone GPS.
    2. Secondly, the Charge 4 features the new Active Zone Minutes that allows you to set target goals and is able to alert you when the target is reached. This feature may come to other models of Fitbit wearables.
    3. Thirdly, the Charge 4 is equipped with an altimeter that tracks floors climbed, but not present in Versa lite nor Inspire HR.
    4. Fourthly, the Charge 4 and Versa light come with SpO2 sensor which can monitor blood oxygen, but not present in the Inspire HR.

  • Battery Life

Fitbit claims the new Charge 4 will last up to 7 days with continuous heart rate tracking which is longer than the Inspire HR and Versa Lite with about 4 days long battery life respectively. And with continuous GPS tracking, it’s about 5 hours of battery life.

Verdict

Obviously, each of these three is a decent wearable that can complement your lifestyle and can help you achieve more fitness goals by leveraging Fitbit’s innovative fitness technology. However, the Charge 4 is clearly the best choice. It comes with an inbuilt GPS that brings it’s own level of convenience, has NFC that allows you to make a payment on the go and has the longest battery life.

On the other hand, I’ll choose the Versa lite over the Inspire Hr which still, is a great choice.
