The design of the F21 HR hasn’t changed from that of its predecessor, its same rugged and bold design. The F21 HR is quite large (slightly bigger than the average smartwatch), and also a bit thick which makes it ideal for men and people with fat wrist.
It’s sturdily built with a stainless steel for the case and soft 26mm urethane straps that are comfortable to wear. While the screen is coated with anti-fouling coating glass just in case of accidental falls.
The F21 HR like its predecessor also has dual monochrome and TFT display with the latter being more interactive and lively. However, the monochrome LCD when active will see the F21 HR last just about a month, although all Wear OS features will be deactivated.
The watch face can be customized, including the heart rate dedicated watch face that can show your current heart rate, pace, and other related stats.
It supports touchscreen and has 3 additional buttons that make navigating and accessing this device very easy. The 3 buttons are used to access the sensors, apps, and map respectively.
Like its predecessor, the F21 HR comes with 4GB storage capacity that allows you to take your music with you. About 2.2GB is available with system requirements utilizing the rest. You can listen to music via a Bluetooth enabled earbud offline or online via the popular Spotify music app.
Moreover, the F21 HR also has a microphone that allows you to access the much improved Google Assistant which comes handy in performing a variety of tasks including setting up alarms and other reminders.
The F21 HR has received a 5ATM waterproof rating which makes it water-resistant up to 50 meters. As a result, it’s safe to wear this device under the rain, to the shower, or perhaps to the pool. The F21 HR is also certified MIL-STD-810G – a US military grade rating that makes it a more rugged device that can withstand some shocks. This makes the F21 HR a great companion for your next adventure.
Following in the footsteps of the likes of Ticwatch Pro, the F21 HR features dual display mode that can help elongate its battery life significantly.
With the monochrome LCD display active, the F21 HR is expected to last about a month. Although all Wear OS features become deactivated with the monochrome LCD display active. While on mixed usage with the TFT LCD display active, the F21 HR is expected to last just about a day or more.
The F21 HR is the first smartwatch in the Protrek series to come with a heart rate sensor which certainly makes it a more complete fitness tracker than its predecessor.
The F21 HR is well equipped with an accelerometer, gyroscope, barometric altimeter, inbuilt GPS including the new heart rate sensor that can help you manage your pace and training intensity. You can also set up an alert for a specified heart rate at which the F21 HR will notify you once your heart rate gets to this point.
It can also measure your VO2 max which can help you improve on your endurance as it gives you insight into your blood oxygen level. And with altimeter available, you get to see your current elevation which comes handy for climbers. These two make the F21 HR a great choice for climbers.
There’s a dedicated watch face that can show your min. and max. heart rate for the day including your current heart rate. Being an outstanding GPS smartwatch, the F21 HR features both offline and online color maps that can help you view your current location as well as see available routes. You can also create a custom route and set up reminders for certain locations.
