- Notifications & Application
The Asus Zenwatch 2 qualifies as an entry-level smartwatch built for durability to withstand tough conditions as well housed in a sleek, elegant and classy design. It’s a suitable wearable for both men and women. The Zenwatch 2 has a spectacular design, it has a screen size measuring 1.6 inches which is wide allowing you to see more at a glance. The display is rich featuring a full-color AMOLED display. It’s touchscreen, supports multitouch and also has buttons by the sides to aid navigation of the interface.
The casing of the Zenwatch 2 is made of top-grade stainless steel material while the 22mm straps which are interchangeable come in various materials which include stainless steel or silicone. Besides that, the Zenwatch 2 has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for the screen protection against scratch and dust.
The Asus Zenwatch 2 has an impressive battery life one of the reasons it’s a popular demand from smartwatch fans across the globe. The Zenwatch 2 uses a non-removable battery with a capacity of 400mAh. On-standby battery life lasts about 4-5 days while on mixed usage battery life drops to about 15-24 hours. Perhaps a full day usage from a single charge, but it depends on personal usage which varies.
With the Asus Zenwatch 2, you will have 4GB internal storage space with about 2.5GB available after system requirements. With this, you can store your favorite files plus listen on the go via an earbud or play it directly from the device via the loudspeaker that comes with it.
Asus Zenwatch 2 is dust and water resistant. It is certified IP67 meaning it passed the 1 meter underwater for 30 minutes test. So it’s safe to wear the Zenwatch 2 under rain or to the shower. However, it’s not recommended to wear the Zenwatch 2 to the pool as this might damage the watch.
Asus Zenwatch 2 is not the perfect choice for anyone looking for a smartwatch to track their fitness activities. It lacks both inbuilt GPS and heart rate monitor (HRM) which are vital features needed to track outdoor activities and heart rate variations. However, there is an accelerometer sensor inbuilt that lets you track steps and distance covered.
Asus Zenwatch 2 was built to complement your phone. It is capable of alerting you when a new notification arrives on your phone. When connected to a compatible phone, the Zenwatch 2 will notify you when there is notification from both native and third party apps on your phone.
Unfortunately, there is no NFC chip built into the Zenwatch 2. This means there is no payment system supported by the watch. Beyond that the Zenwatch 2 watch faces are customizable, same with the straps. The straps can be customized with a 22mm strap size. The Asus Zenwatch 2 runs on Wear OS 2.0 which is upgradable to 2.1, though there are complaints from users who said after upgrading battery life became horrible and only lasted about 2-3 hours.
The Zenwatch 2 is compatible with Android 4.4 or later and iOS 9.0 or later.
